Telegram Desktop on Linux: binary, Flatpak and Snap

Option 1: official binary

Download the tar.xz archive, extract it and run the Telegram executable. It does not depend on system library versions and works on any distro; you can move the folder to /opt and create a launcher.

Option 2: Flatpak

Run flatpak install flathub org.telegram.desktop. Sandboxing keeps things tidy and Flathub handles updates.

Option 3: Snap

Run sudo snap install telegram-desktop — handy on Ubuntu and others with Snap preinstalled, with automatic background updates.

Which to pick

• Latest version: the official binary;
• Clean isolation: Flatpak;
• Zero effort: Snap or your distro repository.
