Contact syncing

Once enabled, Telegram shows which of your contacts are already registered so you can start chatting. It uploads encrypted hashes of numbers, not your address book in the clear.

Ways to invite

  1. Contacts → Invite Friends and send by SMS or link;
  2. Share your username link so no phone number is involved;
  3. Create a group and share its invite link.

Prefer not to sync

  • Remove synced contacts and disable syncing in Settings;
  • You can still add people by searching usernames;
  • Privacy settings control who can find you by number.
