Settings → Notifications lets you control private chats, groups and channels separately, plus whether message previews are shown.

Per chat

  1. Open a chat → tap the name at the top → Notifications;
  2. Toggle alerts, set a custom sound and vibration;
  3. Show or hide notification content for privacy.

Sane defaults

  • Custom sound for important contacts, mute the rest;
  • Set a do-not-disturb window so nights stay quiet;
  • Keep channels muted by default to avoid overload.
